After a relaxing two weeks at home, I packed up my bags and made the move to Orlando, Florida for my internship with Walt Disney World. I have now officially moved in and gone through orientation!
Yesterday, dozens of incoming Disney Professional Interns (PIs) spent four hours at Disney University. Disney University is Walt Disney World's training center for all of its employees. Aside from holding orientation, Disney University holds various classes that employees can sign up for. These classes are great opportunities to expand their technical skills in a variety of fields.

During orientation, we received our Disney ID cards. With these, we are permitted to enter any of the parks or resorts on Disney property. Aside from being a fun perk, park entry is extremely important for individuals in the Industrial Engineering department. Disney uses its Industrial Engineers to ensure that guests are having the best time possible at its parks. We assess any problems that could negatively affect a guest's experience while at Walt Disney World.
Tomorrow, I have my first official day of work. All eighteen of us Industrial Engineering interns will go through a departmental orientation and then get to meet our coaches. Coaches are a vital resource for PIs. They are our first points-of-contact when we have questions, are assigned new projects, or need some advice. I'm extremely excited to finally meet my coach and get started with my internship!
